12 rib better than 8

Ive noticed that many of the LS1 guys have problems with belt slipping. I know that they cannot fit a 12 rib because of clearance issues but is it really that much better. How much more boost can a 12 rib hold without slipping than an 8 rib?

Thanks

The advantage of going to a 12-rib is that youre creating more of a contact patch for the belt to ride on.

The reason for slippage varies by kit IMO. Vortech has the sturdier bracket over the ATI kit, so you typically don't see as much slippage with Vortech LS1 kits. Some of the slippage can be caused by your brackets flexing. I just added a strut brace to my YSi custom setup.

I think once you get over 12lbs in my personal experience it gets harder and harder to keep a 6 rib belt from slipping

By strut brace do you mean from crankshaft snout to blower snout? If so I was tuning a FAST kit 91 mustang with a YSI and it broke that sucker right around 833rwhp.. The guy who owned it said that was the second one they've broken..

I was shocked really

I'm very interested in a brace like this. Are they all custom built? I suppose just bearings on both ends and an adjuster in the middle like lcas...?
