112 lobe center smog legal?

Re: 112 lobe center smog legal?
I'm using 42lb injectors.
As far as claims to backup what I said - when I took it to the strip my first run resulted in a 1.7 60' time on drag radials with little setup and then the automatic died at the 1 to 2 shift. So no, I don't have times to back up my claim but if the only thing that matters is strip times then I guess I'd have an old pickup truck with a trailer and my Camaro wouldn't be streetable. It's fun to drive it, that's what matters to me.

Re: 112 lobe center smog legal?
I have run into a LOT of guys at the track who thought they had something quick till some ugly grandpa car complete with AC/ABS/power seats etc. walks them after a 150mile drive to the track. That includes bolton/spray LS cars, big blocks.
I am not saying a car has to be a dedicated track car. I am saying "works well" is meaningless without some verification. The butt dyno is wildly inaccurate.

Re: 112 lobe center smog legal?
I didnt read all this thread but there are some california thirdgen guys passing smog with 355-406" motors all around 360-420 whp with cams in the 224 to 233 deg range.
One guys built 369" motor with a 233/233 on a 112 I believe cam made 420whp and passed with flying colors. AFR 222cc heads (210's ported to 222). So it can be done.
Other guys were using the 280XFI cam. Its all in the cats and tune

Re: 112 lobe center smog legal?
Dwayne,
Thanks. You've inspired me to get off my butt and get my car back together so I can take it to the track and see. My butt dyno says about mid elevens which isn't any world beater for a Camaro but I like how it feels and how it drives. '97 isn't the best year of Camaro to modify in the Los Angeles area, tight smog specs and not an LS. I think the best idea would to be find a '98 or newer wreak and get the engine/trans/ECU out of it. Then build that and every two years put the "old" motor back in for the smog check.
