Thumbs up Re: Would you do your header install yourself?

HardcoreRM125, I don't know if Pacessetter is a LOT diffrent than Kook's, but as far as jacking the car up, I had one jackstand on each side sitting on the ground, not on blocks or anything, extended about half way up. Laid on my back and put the passenger side header in from the bottom. Like I said eariler, did have to jack the motor up on this side. Sprak plugs and oil dipstick were removed. Took the alternator off to tighten the bolts. On the driver's side, the coolant sensor in the head, spark plugs, oil filter and factory cooler, and steering shaft were out. Dropped this one in from the top in less than a minute. Like I said, I don't know if there is a world of difference in the way the Kook's fit vs. the Pacesetter, but for me on a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being the hardest, I would rate my expereince as about a 4.

Re: Would you do your header install yourself?

Harvey, like I posted earlier, the Pacesetter emission's headers are a LOT harder to install. The AIR tube and EGR tube added to them get in the way big time. I had some additional issues because my car has an automatic transmission from an Astro Van so I had to cut the extra flange material off the transmission. But with the emission's stuff, I definitely had to unbolt the motor mount and lift the motor on the passenger side to get that header in. And that still took a couple of whacks with a hammer too! But the quality of the Pacesetter headers is great and I would do it again.

I would say find a local board and ask for help.... I have found that most f-body owners like to help others mod their cars. Find someone local that has installed headers. You will learn quite a bit about your car by helping with installs like these.

Well, I guess a diffrent tranny would make a quite a big difference. And yes I'm sure EGR and the AIR stuff would get in the way and add time to the project. Sorry if I ddin't clerify that I didn't have any of that stuff to hook up on my project. No tail pipe inspection is awesome!
