Wiring an E-cutout?
Wiring an E-cutout?
How do I wire up the switch to my DMH cutout. I mean it seems simple enough, but where do I hook up the red and black wires? and where do I run the wire to get it inside the cab from underneath the car? do I have to worry about extra slack in the wire?
The directions that came with the cutout should be very helpful
The red wire will connect to a switched power source (can be found in the interior fuse panel). Black will be ground; any clean metal connection that makes it's way to the frame will do. Wire routing depends on where you plan to mount the cutout. If it's in the typical location just before the axle, you'll find a drain hole stopper in the rear seat floorpan. Make sure the wire is protected were it exits through the sheet metal so that the wire insulation doesn't wear through over time by rubbing against a metal edge. Excess wire isn't an issue, just make sure the wire is out of harms way (pinch points).

I've got mine
hooked into the cig lighter wiring...
always has power, but does not drain battery because you've got to be holding the switch down in order to "draw" power.
I mounted the switch just under the cig lighter. (Cut the hole w/ a dremel).
Black switch on a black background, so its hard to see, but is easily accessible... for when you crack it open some more when a 'stang shows up in your mirror...
SWEET setup. You'll love it!!
Ran the wires under the carpet and thru a slit in the drain plug (sealed w/ silicone).

i put it in over the weekend, ran it under the carpet alongside the passenger side chair, then under it to the ash try. it's nice. i was expecting it to be a lot louder though.
