Will never use a catback system ever again.

I've been through five exhaust systems on my 3 f-bodies, The SLP Loudmouth I, Borla, Hooker, and Magnaflow. I recently bought a Borla system for my 96z, it was damaged in shipping so I promptly returned the system to Borla. Never again will I do anything other than what I've recently done, just used summit universal x pipe with dynomax bullets and some cheapo turndowns. Sounds really nice, better than anything I've had on a car before. I'll try to get some pics up later, unfortunately it just started snowing and it's about 12 degrees right now. garage is an icechest right now, because space heater is shot...

My friend and his cousin are opening up a performance shop somewhat local to me. I am already in talks with them about getting a true dual setup underway for my car.

I just can't believe what a difference it makes on my car. This thing runs and sounds alot healthier. I wish I could put the time in and bend my own all the way over the axle, I'm very satisfied for the cost-gain ratio. I was a fool to buy any of those catbacks.

All it takes is a good bender and a decent welder to make a good system, if a guy could crank a couple out a day, you'd make a killing selling them. I've been thinking about maybe doing an exhaust shop in the future too. I'm a certified industrial welder/electrician and I've bent a lot of 3/4''-4'' rigid conduit in my day hehe. It just sucks working in nasty gas plants.

here's the last project I was at:

If I didn't have to worry about smog, I wouldn't consider a single system catback.

I'll let you know. I'm guessing it won't be completely cheap considering I want to have two cats and then the two mufflers put in.

I dunno, alot of guys around here run true duals. Don't get me wrong I think they are pretty badass....I just went for something different. That being said...I wonder how a 3.5in or better yet...a 4in Mufflex flows compared to a true dual set up.

I never had the dyno time efforts exhausted trying to figure exactly how big a loss the single vs true dual setup is worth, and of course mod for mod I'm sure it varies greatly on how much is done to the car. I've stuck w/the flowmaster that's under my '95 for over a decade now, and have had 3 different sets of headers/manifolds on the car, including y-pipes. Perhaps its only because I make close to 400rwhp, but I doubt I change it over to true duals, I am a little worried about ground clearance with the true duals and have seen many nearly dragging the ground.

One thing that really rocks about these cars, you see and hear something different every day, I'll bet that setup sounds killer huh?

I've thought about doing something like this too, i'll be installing some PS LTs here shortly, it has a Magnaflow Cat back now, so i was going to get an Ory pipe to eleminated the cats, do they make an X pipe that would bolt up to the PS LTs? If so, i may go this route with mufflers & turn-downs.

if i stil had my long tubes, i woulda made several kits for people.

With the pacesetters, use the summit kit, cut the driver side (about 2 inches i believe), and everything welds and bolts right up, put your mufflers and turn downs on the end, and your good to go

I have true duals and I am ditching them. I have dyno verified a 22 rwhp gain from running open headers at my local shop Next Level Performance. We made several runs with true duals and several runs open header. I am running spintech mufflers which appears to be the problem. Using the bullets have to be way better flowing than my spintechs but they are extremely loud.

A friend of has borla and gained 2 rwhp by running open header.

The weak link in your exhaust is that chokemaster...a friend of mine had one on his '94 1LE Z28 and gained 9rwhp by taking it off and switching to Corsa on a pretty much otherwise stock car.
