whats most power--duals or cutouts
that looks pretty tight from the distance picture...you think 2.5" pipe would do well? where did you get your set up from? good lookin car, and mine doesn't have the body kit on it....maybe that is why your pipes look so low to me. i saw something from jegs...a 'universal x-pipe' kit with cutouts for like 180 bucks or less without the cutouts...think thats any good?
"pretty tight"
as in "cool"....or "poor clearance"??
i'd day i have a solid 4" of clearance under the mufflers...maybe less under that one that hangs lower
the kit is a universal kit just like the one in Jegs...although i think it came from Summit.
the kit with the cutouts isn't bad, but i'm not sure the ground clearnce you'd lose with the flange for the cutouts.
2.5" would work GREAT for even a h/c car. i got the 3" because it was for sale cheap...someone bought it, planned to fab a setup..never did. it was never used..but i got it 1/2 price.
if i could do it again...i'd go 2.5"
i had to buy some 3bolt flanges (flowtechs aren't slip fit collectors) and a few feet of extra pipe to fab up the front of the X pipe. the drivers side collector on the LS1 is at an angle, and the flowtechs tuck up real high...so it took some custom fab work.
but i did it all in the driveway. measure, mock up, measure, mock up...cut..mock up...tweak...mock up......weld.
here are the pics
what i had to do to get the collector and pipes mated up

the whole setup

haha "pretty tight" as in poor clearance, but "good lookin car" as in cool...i go to nc state and am in engineering...was hoping to talk to some of the lab instructors in the mechanical engineering school and see if they'd want to install all the parts for me **CHEEEAP**, in theory anyway. thanks for the info, and i'll probably go with one of those universal kits from jegs or yours from summit.
