No bs, if you have someone working on a car who is a mechanic, how long for an F body to have a set of longtubes installed?

A lot of mechanics won't install headers, especially if they are missing emissions, or you have a y-pipe.

That being said, i'd say 5-7 hours depending on how smooth everything goes and if the mechanic has done it before. I usually tell people to plan a full day for header installation

start to finish including building duals took about 8 hours, including a 45 minute lunch break.

to take mine off took about hour and a half, two hours. After you do it enough, it comes easy

took me 15 hours to do mine. But knowing what I know now, if i had to go back and do them again i could probably be done in 5 or 6 hours.

I'm shocked by these answers. We're talking about a mechanic with every tool imaginable and a lift, right? Not doing it by yourself in a garage or driveway?

I have two guys that I go to for work I can't / don't have time to do myself. I think the slower of the two could do a set of headers on my car in 3-4 hours. They both have shops w/ lifts though.

me and two of my buddies just installed lts on my '02 and it took us about 7 hrs. but we did it without a lift, in a gravel driveway, and the bare minimum of tools. infact we had make a couple tool runs. but then i had a number 7 cylinder misfire, turns out one of the plugs got cracked when the header bumped into it during install.

We usually bill out 3 hours for a long tube install.

I'm very mechanically inclined and it took me about 6 hrs by myself no lift, it just depends on how smooth things go.

My car is on jackstands right now waiting for me to start. I will let you all know how long it takes. I did a LT install on the GTO I had and it was a breeze. 6 hours total for it. F-bods.... I don't think it'll be fun. TIGHT!

Well, I have about 16-18 hours in the header install and I'm still not finished!!! EGR fitting on pass. side wont tighten the whole way so I gotta machine the nut down so it tightens up. The Pacesetter Y pipe WILL NOT fit to the SLP TOTL I-pipe!! I gotta get an flare tool to expand the pipe. Still waiting on my O2 harnesses. This job was the BIGGEST PITA I've ever done. If they were the offroad headers, it woulda been A LOT easier!! Those pipes are in the way of everything, especially on the passenger side. Had to take the mount loose on the passenger side and rock the engine to get that side header in. drivers side was ok. Just took out the oil filter and it went. Hope its worth it. Really shoulda waited and did Heads/cam all at once. woulda been easy.
