If they were the offroad headers, it woulda been A LOT easier!! Those pipes are in the way of everything, especially on the passenger side. Had to take the mount loose on the passenger side and rock the engine to get that side header in. drivers side was ok. Just took out the oil filter and it went. Hope its worth it. Really shoulda waited and did Heads/cam all at once. woulda been easy.
This is why Pacesetters are cheap. Pony up for the high-end stuff and it generally fits much more easily!

I bought offroad pacesetters and they fit in very nice although they do sit right off the floor boards... guess that's good if you want to lower your car but they could rattle. Anyways, I had about 20 hours in on mine but I was taking mine time working alone and in no rush. The headers were a pain to put in but not something I wouldn't do again. If you do them yourself save yourself the time and get your car as HIGH as possible and slip the headers in from underneath. Mine took only 1-2min to slip into place. I didn't need to unbolt the engine mounts or anything crazy. Having a Sawzall around is VERY helpful when removing the old exaust pipes. Dont even try unbolting rusty bolts. Do as much research as possible before you begin the swap. And forget o2 extentions, just solder extention wires on. The joints will be much more conductive then a stupid connector.

I did have the car as high as my jack would go. I could almost sit up under the car. I would do this job again. I was quite mad when I posted that I wouldn't earlier. The AIR line on the #2 primary was hitting the inner fender/strut tower, as was the EGR line sticking straight out the back of the #8 primary... So I had no choice but to take the engine mount loose. As I said, the off road pipes woulda been a lot easier. I did take my time though. I took all the old exhaust off by unbolting it. PB Blaster is great stuff. Soaked it a few days before I started. Ended up breaking a few bolts anyways. I wanted all the stock stuff in tact, just in case I wanna go back to stock, or if someone else needs it. If you seen my soldering abilities, you'd tell me to get the extensions! Got the them in today. Hopefully I can finish it off in the morning. I'm looking to have another 3-4 hours in it.

Got it finished up yesterday afternoon. The TOTL sounds great with no cats and the headers. It has better throttle response and it seems to rev with ease.

All in all I have about 22 hours in it from start to finish. It was WELL worth it. Now its time to save for other mods.

Camaronutt,

Could you post a list of tools that are required for the pacesetter install. And could you discuss any intricacies that you ran into in regards to the Ypipe and or 02 sensors?

Right now I have stock exhaust manifolds with a Borla Catback and I'm looking to do either a hooker or pacesetter header install and would like to see what the best Ypipe or whatever is needed prior to going into the gutted cat.

I'm a bit clueless on what setup is best. I like the pacesetter sound, but dunno what that sounds like with borla catback, and dunno what kinda ORY or whatever that stuff is. True dual..etc..I'm clueless. If I have all the right tools and components I know I can do the install though.

Eric, these are the tools I used and the parts I purchased. Your 94 will use different Headers as the 94-95 are different from the 93, 96-97. Herron part number is: 72C2235. Y-pipe should be the same. Unless you go with the race headers, then they are the same for all the years.

TOOLS: Craftsman tool set, one of those 100 piece sets from Sears.
A 3/8 inch breaker bar and a cheater pipe for extra leverage.
An extra Craftsman open/box end wrench set (metric).
3 inch exaust flaring tool.
3 and 1/2 ton floor jack.
Jack stands.
1 inch wrench, for AIR tubes
PB BLASTER. Soak all your fasteners days prior to removal!!
Patience and some mechanical aptitude.

Parts: Pacesetter Long Tube headers ceramic coated, AIR/EGR, from Herron Performance their part number is EXH-72C2237 (96-97).
Pacesetter Offroad Y pipe, Herron pt#: EXH-821161 (all years)
Oxygen extension harnesses from an eBay store. 18 inch and a 12 inch extension. Flat connectors. 94s may differ. I'm not sure.
Permatex Copper gasket maker
Antifreeze
Oil Filter/ oil.

You will have to remove and discard every exhaust piece from the Borla forward. exhaust manifolds, y-pipe, and catalytic converter. The Pacesetter Y pipe should fit to the Borla. I had to cut about 2 1/2 inches off the Pacesetter Y-pipe and then flare it to fit onto the SLP Intermediate pipe. The Intermediate pipe is the straight piece of exhaust right after the Y-pipe/cat that goes to the over the axle pipe. That is really the only thing that didn't bolt right in place. everything else is pretty self explanatory once you dig in.

Let me know if your unsure about anything or have any questions.

Dave

So next day i woke up at 8 took the car over about 6 hrs later got a call and about $150 later i was crusin with my lt's. He had a lift etc and i guess every bolt spanned on the stock manifolds to the head but luckily he had all the tools. Best $150 i ever spent!
