What are your goals for this car? Are you looking at sinking a lot of money into the car or just some exhaust? If the answer is.....

A: Just exhaust, then stick with a catback. Cheaper easier to install or cheaper for some one else to install. You don't have to worry about emissions or cops giving you a hard time about noise violations.

B: I want to eventually make a race car that has an accomadating exhaust, then I would look at the possibility of LT headers an offroad y pipe and a cat back. Or you can go LT headers,X pipe, dual exhaust and throw some mufflers of your choice on there. This is mostly your prefrence.

From expirence, exhaust can get very pricey very quickley.

Depending what long tube brand you go with, they also offer catted y-pipes to go along with them. Having the cats would be a good idea if you have a visual inspection or a "sniffer" test to pass. However, do keep in mind that your car would still technically be violating the emissions regulations because the cats would be in different locations due to the placement from the long tubes. If your inspector knew what they were looking for, then that may be an issue assuming they actually crawl under there and look.

Your best bet would probably be to stick with a shorty or mid-length style header then where you can still reuse your stock or stock style y-pipe.

Depending on where you are, if you relocate your cats you may not pass emissions. It is a Ferderal Law, but some states are less **** about it than others.

You may want to look into a set of mid-length headers and the corresponding catted y-pipe. I would look into the MAC brand, they are pretty reputable and you can get them as a set with both the headers and y-pipe. Then pick out a catback of your choice and you should have a system makes some good power. If you emissions are very strict, I'm not sure what state you live in, then when you are shopping for exhaust parts, you should probably look for parts that only have CARB stickers.

Mac cats suck compared to other aftermarket cats.
