What to buy??

Hey guys...

Some of you might of seen my other thread, but i just got a 94 z28 auto, right now i BELIEVE it has no cats, i could be wrong and probably am because it came inspected, and it has an older flowmaster muffler with some nasty tips.

I planned on just getting headers but i think im going to get a complete setup so i can get the 40 + RWHP everyone is talking about.

Ive been searching around for no lie about 1.5 hours and im not quite sure what exactly i need to get.

Id like to spend under 1000 dollars but i guess ill do what i have to do.

Headers - Pacesetter LT's seem like the best bet?
Muffler - Flowmaster super 44's?

What else do i need to get? i want a VERY loud, legal combanation, and the most horsepower i can get

Thank you very much for your help, sad i loved cars for so many years and know nothing...lol.

I have magnaflow exhaust, its a good price for stainless. But if you want LOUD, you could get the SLP Loudmouth exhaust, it can be annoying when riding in the car for a while though. IMO flowmaster sucks. You'll need header gaskets, bolts, and emissions safe permatex. If you bought the pacesetters and a cat-back system, it shouldn't cost you over $1000.

You should buy a Chilton's Manual for your car and read up on it. It will help you learn a lot about your car

alright, since i just did my exhaust not long ago, here we go
Pacesetter Long tubes - get coated ones, look at texas-speed.com
they come with copper gaskets and bolts, so you dont need to worry about that
Pacesetter Y-PIPE - also from texas-speed. I believe both can be had for around 550, somebody correct me if im wrong
As far as a cat-back, i would look at a magnaflow, hooker, or even the edelbrock cat-back. Stay away from flowmaster and Loud Mouth, it is too loud/raspy with long tubes.

What do you define as "legal," how strict are your regulations?

so i should get the pacesetter longtubes with the y pipe for 560ish i already priced that, then a catback system? does that include the high flow cats?

No, if you wanted cats you would have to purchase and have them custom installed into the off-road y-pipe.

well that will just put me more in debt, will they provide THAT much extra horsepower?

i checked out some magnaflow clips and they dont seem very loud, but i guess thats because the testcar didnt have longtubes.

if you leave the cats off, you'll have a little extra HP. Magnaflow really isn't that loud at idle, but when you step on it, it roars

I have GMMG exhaust and it is loud and gets a lot of compliments. Its a bit pricy but worth it IMO. I just took my cat completely out to put a cutout in place of it and the exhaust got a bit louder and a little raspy-er on the top end but still isnt near as bad as some that ive heard. Once i get LT's to complete the front end of the exhaust im sure it will be just a bit louder. I wanted loud but not LOUD

Exhaust shopping all comes down to a matter of taste. I don't see anything wrong with the SLP systems.
