Well I did it, and I don't like it...

I did the x-pipe and used two thrush mufflers and went over the axles. Sorry no pics at this point as we are in the process of taking it down. I would not recommend this setup to any one thinking about it. Sounds good but louder than the cutout on a y pipe, that is without the over the axle tail pipes. With the over the axle tail pipes it is just a tad bit louder than stock and no notice able preformance gains. Maybe muffler choice or added weight? All piping and mufflers are 2.5".

I have decided to go with two chambered mufflers from Classic Chambered Mufflers, Inc as I love that sound. I will let you know how that turns out, but again I would not recommend the thrush mufflers. The price is right for a cheap build but I for one did not like the sound in the end.

What exhaust did you have before?
I was thinking about doing an x-pipe with those mufflers,
thanks for saving my time and money.
Aren't those injectors holding you back?

Tuner told me that injector duty cycle is at 90%, so probably could do better with larger but not needed right now. Just had a kid so no new toys for me for a while.

I was running a y-pipe with single cat dumped before muffler. Going to chambered muffler set up.

Glad I could help.

If it matters, once i did LTs and true 2.5 duals, i did not notice a SOTP difference like you. However, i did know it performed a lot better than before due to track times, etc. and it did sound better.

That does help, thanks. I am hoping I will see the same results you did when we go to the track soon.

I did put the new exhaust on and am very happy. No ground clearance issues, it's not TOO loud even dumped under the car(turndowns are pointed out), and the sound is amazing. I went with two 2.5 mufflers from classic chambered mufflers. I bought the three chambered ones and they sound great. These are the same style muffler GMMG uses on their cat back system but according to classis chamber's pres, he said he will out flow them when comparing same mufflers. I like them so much I am thinking about becoming a dealer. I got both mufflers shipped for less than $150 with no sort of discount. I will try to get a video up soon for anyone else looking for a unique sound.
