U bolts on header collectors ?

Hey guys I've ran into a problem, im trying to hook up my 2.5" true duals to my pacesetter collector, the exhaust slip fit over the collector and i don't think theres enough room for a band clamp so is it okay to just use a typical exhaust U bolt ?

Just do it long enought to get to the muffler shop and have them do it right.

lol, can't man ....a muffler shop isn't going to be able to do anything different than what I could do, that'd be a waste of $$

Just wondering if anyone else has connected their exhaust to headers with U bolts successfully as opposed to band clamps ?

I would (and do) *only* use band clamps.

As suggested, post a picture if possible. The only downside of the u-bolts is that they distort the pipes when tightened making future disassembly a little more difficult.

what im saying guys is my exhaust is slip fitted OVER the header collector, and because of the o2 bung a band clamp will not work, they are too long, and i really don't want to take the chance with shipping etc.. noone has them around here anywhere (looked all over yesterday like a fool) so i'd be ordering band clamps from summit. on top of all that i really need to try and get this exhaust done this weekend so it can be on the road by monday (no time to wait for shipping) and thats why i was asking if it would be okay to just use U bolts

I needed a band clamp when I refitted my catback to the Kooks Y. I
went to 2-3 auto parts stores. These days, many of these folks at the
stores are simply cash-register jockeys and have no technical tie to
car parts. None of the parts store I visited had a band clamp.

I finally went back to my local Oreilly parts store and told the girl
behind the counter I'm frustrated that I cant find a simple band
clamp. She went to a shelf and brought back a big Walker exhaust
catalog - we rummaged through the catalog and I pointed out the
band clamps.

Although she didnt have the part in stock, she called their local
warehouse and had it there within 2 hours. Sometimes just going
and asking if they have it in stock will get you a "yes" or "no" answer.
You may have to ask if they can get it from another store or warehouse.

I'm sure there is enough room on the PSs to fit a band clamp, you had stated in another thread about the o2 bosses being in the way, they should be back far enough back to strap it on, you can use U clamps, just don't tighten them down really hard, they will hold, this isn't "rocket sience", there are plenty of options to go with, here is a pic of mine, its very sturdy. As you can see, there is plenty of collector (before the o2 boss) to strap a band clamp i would think.

The U-bolt can work, just be real sure you don't over tighten it and being to crush the pipe. When it is clearly bottomed out, give it another turn or so and be done w/ it.

NAPA or bumper to bumper auto parts store carries 3in band clamps. there $10. you have to ask for them since they keep them in the back of the store

i dont know why the heck your making this soo difficult. put a u-bolt clamp on it and call it a day. 4 people already told you what to do.
