Straighten a magnaflow carback lt1
Straighten a magnaflow carback lt1
my catback is oriented towards my driver's side. this annoys me. I had it straightened and the welds on the hangars broke. so it back to its original position and solid. I dont have headers or y - pipe yet so its a stock exhaust except for the catback. Why is it crooked? Its not welded on .the car is a 96 vert z28 . Any help would be greatly appreciated
Just noticed i typed carback in post title lol

Magnaflow is well known for alignment issues. You can get it close by extending the pass side tip as much as you can and reclamping and cutting some off the drivers side to get it in further on to the muffler.
My magnaflow pipes arent "straight". I fixed the centering problem but one of the pipes are angled like dogtracking.. to me it looks like garbage.
For this problem it's the actual tip not bent properly.. tried bending it here at home.. no go.. way to go Magnaflow

"We spent a good deal of time investigating your problem. We also spoke to the same person you spoke with at Magnaflow.
1. The pipe/tip issue is not really an "issue" at all. We were told that it was exactly how it was manufactured. This "problem" that you were having is not a new problem at all, it is a known issue. They acknowledged the problem, as they did NOT with you. We were told that it fits 99% of all vehicles, but occasionally run into this issue.
2. We cracked open another system's box to compare the pipes. They were EXACTLY the same.
3. After calling Magnaflow, we were told there were 2 options:
- We can send the pipe back and you can see if your muffler/exhaust installer and make it work" or send the whole system back"
WTF damn this pisses me off. If the left pipe was bent at 90 degrees, it would be fine.
Any ideas??? Thanks
I rotated the muffler down so both pipes were below the bumper facia, then with the clamps slightly loose on that side and hangers disconnected I used a tow ratched strap around both pipes to help pull the dside pipe inwards, with it straight or slightly inwards I re-tightened the clamps.
I think it helped quite a bit but it's not perfect.
