Side Exhaust

I have always loved the oldschool look of side exhaust out before the rear tires. I have a 94 formula so i dont have the graphics kit and it isnt lowered either so i have a bit of room to play around with. Do you think i may run into a lot of trouble scraping them?

Pics if you got em would be great!!!!

Um..... Well I do think you would end up scrapeing them. But do you honestly think side pipes would look good on a 4th gen f body??

why not just use a some nice tips that come off of an X-pipe and exit in the little spot behind the door but before the rear wheel well?

yeah, i hope you're not thinking of lakes side pipes or anything... side exit through the body right before the back tires wouldn't look bad though, it would have to be lowered afterwards though really, in my opinion, to look great.

Side pipes look horrible on these cars. There is a guy around here w/ a newer TA and fender well exit headers with sidepipes.

It is the ugliest, most horrible sounding thing I have ever seen.

tips coming out in front of the wheels would pretty much kill your ground clearance.

even thin pipes...

stick with a cat back or TDs dumped

I've got a custom 3" stainless TD side exit set up and its very bad ***...I have no pix at the moment, but we back cut the pipes under the car a few inches until we decide on tips, but it looks nice as is so I'll probably just leave it...ground clearance is not an issue as we've got it tucked up very tight...I had a dumped system , but it had too much drone so now the pipes come out of the mufflers and do a 180 back towards the front of the car and 90 out the sides behind the doors...I was the prototype and now the shop does lots of them...It flows great, too...I couldn't trap over 121 mph if they didn't flow well...I'll try to get pix this weekend if the weather holds...

I had a nice side exit exhaust I was going to make for my car before my wife got me the loudmouth. Clearance was not going to be lost to much due to using oval pipes and a large flat side exit exhaust. I will see if I can draw up a picture if you would like on the computer to show what I was going to do. Mocked one up using pvc and everything looked like it was going to work well. Have hugh desire to do this exhaust because like you I believe could look nice if done correctly. Not like what I have seen so far.

Does anyone have pics of the side exhaust? I've always thought it be a cool IDEA to have a side exhaust running off of a QTP electric cut-out or something of that nature

Had it on my car when it was together and it sounded bad-*** even with a stock motor. Ground clearance SUCKED with 2.5" tubing. If I were to do it again, I'd use oval tubing to increase the ground clearance somewhat. But I'm going with duals out the back when I put mine back together.

the piece of fender that is after the door and forms the wheel well. If you made a hole for the exhaust to exit right there it would look well, I have no idea on how much work would be involved but i know it would look good. Its just a small amount of metal that the door seperates up the the bodyline that runs through the doors.

The pic that z28 justin posted is great. I would make the hole for exiting exhaust right where it is on that car but just in the fender.
I dont know how to post pics or i would use paint and show everyone what i mean.
