shorties to long tubes

right now i have hooker shorties with a y pipe into a flow master cat back, no cat.... what im wondering is if i change to pacesetter long tubes with ORY into my flow master cat back, how much will my sound change? and how exactly would the sound change?

Basically the sound of your catback is going to be amplified even further, it's going to get louder.

so it wont change the tone of the sound any? just make it louder?

If you're not changing the exhaust system, ie; routing, mufflers, etc., then the sound isn't going to change much either.

It WILL change the tone some just swapping out the headers. The exhaust flow is going to totally change due to the design difference, which will result in an increase in volume and change in tone. Won't be as noticeable at idle as it will be under throttle, but you will definitely hear a difference.

I changed from mac shorties to hooker longtubes. The sound is a little smoother on teh outside, but nothing that anyone other than you would notice. I don't think it got any louder...maybe a tad less deep though. On the inside you can hear the biggest difference. It's almost like you can hear the sound of the air passing through the tubes under your feet. It's strange, can't really explain it...sorta a hollow smooth sound...
