short vs. long

What's the difference between short tube and long tube headers (and not just the length!!)?

Thanks.

Well clearly the length, an they'll flow so much more. Shorties arent worth it, unless you gotta pass emissons.

Better scavenging of the exhaust gases.

In very simplified terms, it has to do with "tuning" the exhaust pulses to improve scavenging at a specific RPM. Longer tubes reduce the RPM at which the tube increases scavenging.... that increases power at lower RPM. A short primary can boost power at higher RPM. A street engine may like a longer primary for a strong bottom end. A track engine, that rarely sees less than 5,000rpm may prefer a shorter primary.

you really don't see any gains for shorty headers, they are pretty comprable to stock manifold, not worth the money. longtubes flow better and pretty decent hp/tq gains
