Re-finishing rusty headers

Im about to buy some rusty headers, I was thinking about sanding them down w/ sand paper and then buying some high temp paint form autozone. Will this work? I don't care too much how they look nor do I want to pay money to get them sand blasted. Just want them to last a few years.

The high temp paint will burn off in no time.

A good quality header paint should last you for awhile.
