QTP or DMH Elec Cutout
QTP or DMH Elec Cutout
I was looking online and found both of these cutouts...>I heard great stuff about the DMH ones. Anyone had any problems with the QTP? The QTP's are cheaper, just wondering if there was any problems?
Thanks,

I did a QTP 3 1/2" on a Mufflex system. The QTP has a smaller profile than the DMH, but I'm sure it could be installed (under Rt side rear seat before the axle kick). There's not much installation area under the F_body platform. Installed for 2+ years and operating OK. Some maintenance was required as fasteners can come loose with heat cycle. You can over drive the electric motor, so, you should be careful not to do that (don't know about the DMH). The dump really relieved back pressure due to my FI application. Everything was an experiment with the exhaust system due to FI. Fabricated alot of changes to the Mufflex design. (97ss M6 383 D1). B.
Im going to go with the DMH. I have a stock exhaust,...so what size should I get? 2.5 or 3?...Also, above was said "not to over drive the electric motor"...How can you do that?

I believe stock exhaust is 2.5 in but I am not for sure on that. Measure your exhaust and then that will tell you what cutout to get. By overdrive I believe he is referring to holding the open/close to long. The cutout wont stop trying to open/close once it is fully opened or closed if you are still holding the switch, it will continue to have power which can burn the motors up. The instructions tell you how long it takes to hold the switch down. I just go by the tone of the exhaust to know when to stop holding the switch.
Edit: I did a bit of searching the forum and depending on where you want to put the cutout may determine what size to get. I personally put mine in place of my cat. Which in that case it looks like the inlet to the cat is 3in and the outlet is 2.75 in. Which in that case you will need a 3in cutout then a small pipe on the outlet end to reduce down to the 2.75 in

what kinda gains are you all seeing from the cutout? I'm going to stick mine right where the cat used to be. I also wonder if that loction would cut the lifespan of the motor since being sort of directly behind the front tire would ensure lots of water and crap getting on it.
does anyone even sell an old school cable operated so you wouldn't even have to worry about it breaking at all.
