Cool Pictures of Wrapped Hooker Longtubes...

I just finished wrapping my 1+ year old Hooker Longtube Super Comp's with DEI wrap. So I figured I post some pictures. It was my first time wrapping a set of headers; took a little longer than expected, but I'm very happy with how they turned out (atleast visually). Hopefully within a month, I'll have the motor in the car and running, and I'll know if my labor paid off. If it does anything, I'll be happy. Hell, it cost me less than a hundred bucks said-and-done:

Haha...

Not only that, but the first primary I wrapped I did it with the wrap dry (not soaked)...inhaled a lot of that crap.

And yes, the itchiness is a sign the wrap is working...I guess.

Are those hoses supposed to be for the AIR hookups?

Negative. Those hoses are part of my Crankcase Evac system.

They lead to by-pass valves connected to flutes in the collectors. The hoses then connect to my valve-covers.

Correct me if I am wrong, but wont the heat underneath the wrap just cause the headers to be hotter and not last as long? I was told to use header wrap strictly in race cars.

Yes, the headers will degrade faster due to the increased temperatures.

I started a thread a week or two ago in regards to header wrap:

http://web.camaross.com/forums/showthread.php?t=513030

There's some more links in that thread with more technical explanations on what happens. I've had these headers for over a year now, and wanted to reduce underhood temperatures (as my main goal); I'm sure there will be many latent effects. This is something I wanted to try for a while, and it was relatively inexpensive. So I decided to learn more about the subject by "doing".

Ok, good to know. I also have always wanted to try it for a short amount of time too, but headers are much more of a PITA for a 3.4.
