pacesetters are finally in for my 3.8!

finally got my headers from "ol bird v6" off of camarov6.com, theyre so sweet, now i just gotta get some abbott gaskets and put them on, just thought id show them off for now though:rock: after theyre on i think im going to get all 2.5 inch piping and keep my flowmaster 40 series for a little while but i dont really like its sound at higher rpm, i was going to get the loudmouth 2 or the tsp rumbler but being an A4 im worried about low back pressure and love my low end torque so i dont think those are really options anymore, i also have been looking at borla xr1s if i could find them cheap enough what do you guys think i should get after the install? something under 65 buck please, im also an ebay shopper soo..

I don't know of any mufflers for the 3.8 or 3.4L that will not rasp up top, that's just unavoidable

However, my friend has a 94 or 95 Mustang V6 with headers and flowmaster 40s, and it has no rasp, sounds good and I cannot figure it out. I think it may possibly be Ford's exhaust piping setup and the fact that they have 2 cats (even for single piping).

post a sound clip when you get those on. I'm curious what they will sound like....

just to clarify..... that means with just the headers/y pipe on.... no cat back...

Nice looking set of headers, but those tacky paper gaskets Pacesetter supplies make me nervous. Don't worry about the "backpressure issue", its irrelevant and nothing to worry about. Let us know how it sounds and performs when you get them installed.

Back when I had my 3.8 I put some pacesetters on it. Open header it sounded a lot like an LT1 with open manifolds, anything off idle though and it sounded like absolute hell.

Yea, take it from me about the paper gaskets.....you'll have a leak in less than a year. Get some REAL gaskets like felpro or something metal/aluminum.
