pacesetters and TSP catted Y, or mac mids?

Question pacesetters and TSP catted Y, or mac mids?

I was looking at the best deals for header packages and found these two:

Pacesetter longtubes and texas-speed catted Y pipe for $700
Mac midlength headers and catted Y pipe for $720

My car is an 01 Z28 with lid and hooker cat back. The only other mods I plan on doing will be a tune and possibly a mild cam (duration between 216-220)latter on.

Point me in the right direction guys!

IMO I would go with the pacesetters.- I'm doing the same and will be putting in a h/c package down the raod. long tubes give better flow than midlengths, but everyone has their preference. just my 2 cents

If you have strict emissions regulations, I would probably go with the Mac setup, if not, then definitely the long tubes.

Yeah, I figured the pacesetters would flow a little more. I just wasn't sure that it would make much of a performance difference since I don't plan on running a big combo.

I've heard about headers/Y pipes hanging low and scraping. Are either the Pacesetters or Macs known for this? My car is not lowered, but I do give the suspension a workout from time to time on some of the twisty backroads.

EDIT: We do have emissions testing. I thought that the pacesetters and catted Y would be legal though?

The Pacesetters tuck up very nicely and if your car is at stock ride height, I wouldn't be too concerned.

Thanks for the replies. I hemmed and hawwed over this for a while and even read a rather spirited (if not down right nasty) thread posted about this on another forum. I got a nice deal on ceramic coated macs with cats and decided to take it.

Now all I have to do is wait for springtime so that I can take the car out of storage, and then a nice 60+ degree day for me to do the install!

i dont use cats, and i really wish i had went with the long tubes at the time. not important to me now, but down the road my mids are coming off.

I'm at this point too. I've been thinking about ditching the Macs for LT's. When I got them I had plans for being bolt-on only. Now I'm cammed and have been looking for a deal on a set of ported heads.
