Ordered Stainless Works Headers

I placed my order for the headers and catted Y pipe. Any suggestions on header bolt length and style. What gaskets does everybody think I should get. Thanks

Re: Ordered Stainless Works Headers

I went with Aluminum gaskets and 1" ARP stainless 12 point 3/8 bolts. Now the fun begins. Can not wait to see how they fit. Have to better performance than the shorties. Thanks for the info guys.

I did not take your advice. I regret it. I used the aluminum gaskets and they are good but I used ARP 1" with 3/8 12 point head. The head is way to big to use in at least 3 places. Allen heads definitely would not have worked. The only problems so far have been the header bolts, getting the dipstick tube back in. Headers have plenty of clearance but it looks like I might have to do a little cutting on the Y pipe to make it fit right.

Re: Ordered Stainless Works Headers

I used allen heads since there wasn't room to get a socket on the bolt between the bolt and primary, so not sure how allen heads definitely wouldn't have worked?

What are you using to connect the headers to the y-pipe? I hope you aren't using a crimp-style clamp. They work but make taking the y-pipe off later almost impossible yourself.

I used stainless band clamps and they work wonderfully. Seal nicely and after you take them off you can remove the y-pipe as easily as you put it on- no crimping what-so-ever. Welding is always an option but its even more permanent and makes removing them later next to impossible.

Just some things to think about...

Re: Ordered Stainless Works Headers

Well Allen heads would work in all but maybe one place. I am not welding it up mainly because I might take it off for future upgrades. I know what you mean about the SS band clamps. We used them on my sons LS1. Unfortunately I do not have enough money to purchase 8 of those clamps. But the clamps that came with it are band clamps and are not as hard to get off as the regular U style. I hate the U style and will never use them as I have never had any luck getting them to seal.
I finally got the headers on and all bolted up but was doing the last part of the Y pipe and its to long. Cant cut it because the O2 Bung is there and I would have to expand it to fit over the CC so now I have to wait for Stainless Works to make it right. Hoping they sent the wrong part. I took pics and sent it to them and now have to wait till they open and call.

Well Anthony from Stainless works came thru for me. Will have me the correct part by Friday. Thanks Anthony. I know you read this stuff. Headers look great in there and now I cant wait to hear them paired with my magnaflow.
SW gets two thumbs up for quality and customer service.

Re: Ordered Stainless Works Headers

Like I said. Anthony came trough for me and I got the part 1 week ago. Installed it Saturday. It sounds great. Just like yours I imagine since the only diff is my tiny cats. I have nothing bad to say about SW headers and their customer support. They were great. But they could have thrown in a free T shirt for my troubles. Size large. Just in case you read this Anthony.

Re: Ordered Stainless Works Headers

As funny as it sounds I picked up my band-clamps off Ebay- got a set of 8 of them for $35. It was a couple years ago and a guy had a bunch of them and had a 'best offer'. I super low-balled him and got them for $3.50 a piece.

Glad everything worked out for you in the end...
