Borla sounds like **** with the open plate. It's not going to solve your problem.

just throw a bullet and it will sound fine,,,alot less popping and cracking with the bullet

so what exactly would it sound like without the bullet,,,so i would run just the offroad y-pipe and the magnaflow muffler

im tempted to take the bullet off

I have stock mani's, a gutted cat and a magnaflow and it sounds ok. It is a bit raspy on hard accel but I think it sounds cool. Still I think I am gunna put a flowmaster 40 on there, and some long tubes.

I did this and the bullet muffler failed in 6 months from the extreme heat just post manifolds, or in my case headers. The insides started deforming, then it fell apart.

Running no cats makes some rasp. Its not the magnaflow. Even my Borla had some without cats.

I destroyed my cats running a D1 on 383ci LT1. Removed them and ran 2 1/2 straight thru pipe. Lots of bad resonance @ 2k to 2.5k rpm on a Spintech 3 1/2 muffler. Could not live with it. I did a 3 1/2" cc 3-disc insert in the pipe before the axle. No more resonance and did lower the noise. I still open 3 1/2" qtp when I need to for max flow.

I have LT's, Off road Y-pipe and a Magnaflow cat back and I like the sound of it but it is just not as loud as I expected it to be. Maybe I am just used to hanging around to many Mustangs.

Definatly dont go Borla if you dont want rasp. I just did LT's, no cats, on Borla and it is LOUD and raspy at 2000-2500 rpm range. Im looking to add a bullit muffler of just change to something else.

im about to buy the borla, but is there a huge difference in sound? im prolly gunna run open plates
If you're complaining about raasp w/ no cats on a Magnaflow, you'll hate the Borla.. I had one for years.. LT's ORY w/ no plate and it was all rasp..

People who complain about rasp on a free flowing exhaust are just dumb..its the nature of the engine. Go throw some parts on to help restrict power if you dont like rasp.

Just add some LTs to the mix, then you'll have no rasp.
