Well i want to install this Exhaust Cutout, Manual, Steel, Clamp-On, 3 in. Diameter one from summit . my cat back exhaust tubing is stock . can i just cut my stock tubing which is 2.75 and clamp the 3 inch on . Will it work ?

I dont want to weld it on yet because soon , i will do headers and 3 in y pipe and 3 inchs to the cout out , and leave the rest behind the cut out stock tubing . with my flowmater muffler .

I am about to attempt the same thing as you only I will have the LT'S and ory I like the idea of having the stock catback to mellow her out and then when I open the cutout I can open the gates of HELL .

just go to a muffler shop. they welded mine for $40... if you dont.. prob fall apart and have a massive exhaust leak... you can cut it off and re weld it on a dif exhaust. or if your going to be doing a replacment soon anyway. just wait and do it all at once

I helped my friend install a muffler on his Toyota today and we used band clamps they conform to the 2 different size pipes nicely! I don't think there will be a leak any time soon. I got band clamps as well for my upcoming header install

I would just wait till you have the headers installed, or just have it welded. When you want to disassemble it in the future, it won't be hard to break off the welds and remove the cutout.

Have you considered using a couple of slip fit stepped exhaust reducers? Then some band clamps to hold it all together.

I found some, check this site out:

http://www.drgas.com/store/product.p...&cat=14&page=1

It would be ideal if they came with the slots already cut in, you'll have to take note of the inside/outside diameters of what you have and what you need.

I'm sure there are others about, if all else fails maybe a custom exhaust shop could make you a couple.
