Is my car too Low.....

Dont start throwing flames at me..I DID do a search!!!
My husband and I want to do true duals on my 99Z. The price isnt too much of an issue and I have someone in mind to do the install. The problem is my husband recently bought me some 18 in C6 chrome wheels and lowered my car accordingly. We were wondering about the clearance issues now. We lowered it 1 1/2 in back and 1 1/4 in front and there doesnt seem to be enough clearance for 3 in duals with turn downs before the axle. Anybody have their car lowered significantly with duals? Our exhaust guy said it would work if I went with 2 1/2 in duals but I really didnt want to go smaller. Any oppinions?
Also, I would like to have my 3 1/2 in tips fabbed in place for appearance purposes because my car is mostly show. I know they cant weld a hanger to the gas tank though... so is this possible??? Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions.

dual 2.5" pipes will support more h.p. than you have.........

You want to put tips on the back that aren't hooked to anything? thats frikkin gay....

Get a y-pipe and cat back......these cars aren't made for duals. the cat back/y-pipe will flow good and even out pulses

I already have "frikkin" Hooker Long tubes and ORY, into SLP Loudmouth muffler. I'm not concerned about HP, I really just want the sound that I've heard on many other Z's in the area with true duals. I'm not worried about if someone thinks the tips are gay either, thats what I want. I was just looking for some help, not back lashing

How much would this effect my torque? Can I still have my tips? Would it be better to go over the axle or before??? These are a few things I want to know.....

pipe size

The 2.5" true duals will actually help your torque, the 3" will hurt the torque due to no backpressure in the line. I know this from experience! Unless you have 600+Hp 3" is overkill and will kill all your low end torque. As for your tips, you do what you want to! I prefer the dump before the axle but that's my preference.
Hope this helps!

You are lowing your car, so over the axel would be preferable. You mentioned cost doesnt matter so looks like that would be the way to go. Under the axel is generally easier for the shop and should cost less. Works fine for a car that's not lowered. You should pick up some torque, probably wont notice it much though on a stock head/cam car. 3 inch duals would be utter overkill for your car, 2.5 in is fine. I thought 3 1/2 in tips were for hondas?

Looks good, is that your car? I've not really been a fan of large tips, but those do look nice. Slash cut ones are my favorite too What did you decide to go with for the exhaust? How do you like the sound compared to the LM you had before?
The 8 in tips are Honda issue
Right you are

IMHO if you want true duals and money isn't an issue.......Bassani is the exhaust that you want. 2.5" ture duals over the axle and then you could still use you tips.....not that I would suggest it, but whatever floats your boat

If thats what your car looks like lowered, then it looks like you have room to me. The low spot will be up front where your Y pipe is anyway. For mufflers I'd suggest Pro-Flo Twisters. Not as loud as and smoother sounding than bullets. Or you can get some Magnaflows like Teke runs.

I'd run 2.5" dumped before the axel w/no tips. Makes for a nice clean appearance. If you want out the rear, just have them flange where the dumps would be so it can be removed and run them under the axel and out the rear. It isn't my car, but I also don't care for the fake tips idea.

Look on LS1tech in the exhaust section. There are tons of pictures of duals.

personally, if it is mainly for show, i would go over the axle. Flowmaster 1chambers are a good choice too, sound good and flow good too
