Muffler Question

I have a 2000 camaro z28 bone stock w/ k&n air filter and a flowmaster cat-back exhaust......it has the factory tips and i was wondering....if i cut them off at the muffler would it effect the sound of the muffler?......i like the way it sounds but i'd like 2 get rid of the tips 4 a clean look if at all possible.....if not i'll prolly just get some new chrome 1's

Probably. I but an Edelbrock RPM muffler on my old Olds... there was about 18 inches of pipe after the muffler. I was actually driving the car when the pipe fell of. The change in the exhaust sound was very pronounced.

I had a similar experience. Just the last 1' section of my tail pipes came off and it made a noticable difference.
