modifyed exhaust ticket
Did they do some sort of decibel measurement test or did the police officer just go off his own discretion. Frankly, if you try to fight it, it would probably be a waste of time, the outcome most likely won't sway in your favor.
Were it me, I would find out what the legal limit is as far as decibels released from your car (should be able to find in ordances for the city the ticket was issued in) then determine how much your car is actually producing. If you are legal, I would fight it. You could also try calling slp to see if they have any sound level ratings for the exhaust.

Here is the low-down on that ticket. I got it last year just off my college campus in my old Cavalier with an aftermarket muffler. If you want to fight it, you have to schedule an appointment with a local referee who will run a decibel test on the vehicle. I believe that your car has to be no louder than 95 decibels to pass. Upon passing you will be issued a certificate of compliance which you will need in court. When I fought my ticket in court, the cop never showed up and I won automatically. Here is some good information on that violation and how to correct it- http://www.samsgarage.com/ca%20exhau...ise%201420.htm
As far as the stock comments, that will not fly in court. Even carb numbers won't work; if the car is indeed more than 95 decibels then it is too loud. People get tickets for not having front license plates when there are cars produced without front plates. If you have to, slap on a resonator for the test. Good luck and keep us posted on what happens!

maybe its different where everyone else stays but ive always gotten out of small things like that.... As long as you fight it they will USUALLY always just say f&^k it as its not worth there time to fight you over it. Most ppl get stuck with them because when they go to pay the ticket or go to court, they tell them u owe this much and everyone just pays it rather than deal with it. So if u have the money than just pay it, if you dont want to waste your money like i dont! dont rush it and fight it, worst case scenario, u end up paying same amount anyways, they cant charge you more for trying to prove your innocence so take your time and i bet youll end up just getting it dropped or even lowered
i called slp and they pretty much said im sol, but the decibal level is 95 and im gonna go to my school and get it tested and hope it passes. SLp said that the loudmouth ' is a loud exhaust' lols. Hope im under 95, but wen the cop pulled me over he said i could get it tested, and it would pass if i put a resonator on it. i looked at him funny. Wouldnt that still be modifiyed? i think he was just trying to make his quata or something. ill let u guys know how it turns out

Ditto on the info, Also it's a free test with the ticket.
Vinny
It free in San Diego all I had to do is bring in the ticket to the referee and they run the test.
