Manifold Removal/ Header Install
#31
I must have been lucky, I hear alot of posts complaining about the difficulty in getting the dipstick out. I really didn't have any troubles with mine, even with 94K on the block.

Problem
My Dad and I took out my manifolds this weekend, went pretty well, dipstick came right out with no problems (probably helps that there is a small oil leak from the intake manifold).
We jacked up the engine to test fit the passenger's side and put it in through the top, plenty of room
We slid the driver's side right in no problem, but it doesn't fit right! It is right in front of the floor cross member with no room for the flange!!
Please help me

My guess is that the motor mounts are old and are sagging. Making the collector end in a spot it is not suppose to. However this is a guess, seeing as I cannot view your photo. A new set of motor mounts may solve your problem.
Thats only a guess though maybe some one else can agree with or shoot my response down.

No they are pacesetters, Pacesetter has to call us back to tell us what to do, we figure that if we cut some of the collector off we could make it fit, but we really dont want to do it.
Any pics would be helpful

I'd guess that's why the hooker Y pipe is indented where the crossmember is. They realize that the driver's side collector doesn't hang down low enough...I'm guessing for ground clearance reasons, so they designed the Y pipe to work around that crossmember. I think you can just make it work by clearancing the Y pipe. Shouldn't impede flow that much.

Since when did pacesetters have flanges on the collectors?

Im kind of getting tired of Pacesetter
Summit was nice enough to send me another pair of headers to try. There is better clearance for the cross-member but the port/manifold piece is warped about 1/4 inch.
Does this matter to my install? Is it going to leak constantly?
Anybody else have this problem? It is the same on both sets they sent me!!
