Question Magnaflow clone: Thunderbolt???

I recently decided to put a magnaflow muffler on my Camaro, and the guy at the shop told me that he could either put on a magnaflow muffler for $99, or that he could get a clone muffler for $55. The clone muffler is made by thunderbolt, but I don't know anyone who has experience with thunderbolt products. If anyone knows any drawbacks to the thunderbolt, or any reasons why i should choose it over the Magnaflow, please let me know. Thanks!

You need a full 3" mandrel-bent catback for any real HP gains. Changing just the muffler isn't going to provide much in the way of performance gains.

Re: Magnaflow clone: Thunderbolt???

It's not so much a performance gain I'm looking for, but rather a bit louder of a sound and a deeper tone. I would get a full catback, but I cant afford one at the moment because I have to save most of my money for college. Eventually I'll probably get a full exhaust system on it (headers back) and maybe a new intake, but that'll probably be 5 years or later in the future! Thanks for the info though. I didn't know the full catback was needed to really see a performance gain.
