Magnaflow 12267 question
Magnaflow 12267 question
I'm replacing my Hooker Aerochamber muffler because I want to quiet the car down. I've narrowed it down between the Dynomax Superturbo(PN#17670) or the Magnaflow (PN# 12267).
The Dynomax is backordered everywhere so the Magnaflow has become more attractive since I just need to get this done.
My concern is that I heard that the Magnaflow 12267 (with the 3" inlet and 2.5" outlets) reduces down to a single 2.5" pipe inside the muffler once it goes through the 3" opening.
I don't know how true this is, so my question is has anyone looked inside the Magnaflow 12267 and seen if the pipe remains 3" through the muffler (until the twin 2.5" part) or does it indeed reduce to a 2.5" pipe in there?
Thanks,
Dave

Found the answer
After some more research, I found on Magnaflow's website that the core size is in fact 2.5" to dual 2.5" outlets for both 3" and 2.5" inlet mufflers.
So apparently the answer is yes, the 3" inlet on the 12267 reduces to 2.5" after entry and then eventually attaches to the dual 2.5" outlet section.
So I guess the only reason to get the 12267 is if you already have a 3" intermediate pipe, since it would apparently flow no better than the 2.5" inlet version.
Guess it looks like I'll be waiting for the Dynomax, which is apparently 3" all the way through.
