Mac mids!!!

I ran into this guy thats selling a set of mac mids with ORY-pipe, no cat. What benefits those that set up have, compared to the set with the cat Y-pipe? the price is good for a brand new coated set. $400. also if i went with LT's and ORY-P what clearance do i have on stock hight? also considering those.!! thanks for any advise.

ORY benefit = 2-3hp over high flow cat.

$400 is $150 less but seeing how just in 3 min I just found some new coated Pacesetters w/y and O2 extensions for $500 shipped and uncoated for $409 shipped the Macs aren't worth it. I wouldnt go mid lengths now. The only reason I have Macs is because I found a set w/a catted Y much cheaper than LTs were at the time, but I keep thinking about upgrading.

SLP has the worse clearance. Stay away from them. I've heard the TSP Y hangs kind of low also.

I've seen several Pacesetter and Hooker set ups and the clearance looked good to me. I'm ~1.5" lower than stock and my cats or the 4" round muffler in the I pipe scrape with my Macs.

Browse the exhaust section on ls1tech and you should see plenty of pictures of header clearance. Most probably won/t be stock height though.

You'll have the same clearance problems as you would with macs and a catted Y.

i dont know why people knock on the mac mids so much, they're really not much worse performance wise than longtubes. but longtubes will still be the best bang for the buck

Don't get me wrong. It isn't like they're shorties. If it was, I wouldn't be running them no matter how good of a deal I got.

5-10 hp @ peak, but its the power gained under the curve that the LT's provide that makes the big difference. Yes, the Mac's can make decent power and can flow even better if you want to go through the trouble of replacing the collector w/the flowmaster set up. IMO its mainly their 2.5" collector vs. the LT 3" collector that holds them back more than their shorter length.

The prices I quoted were LT's and Y. Did you find LT's And Y for 385?

You'll just have a little less than stock, but nothing major.
