loudmouth to borlamouth help

i searched and couldn't find a definitive answer to what i was looking for, so here it is. does the borla xr-1 (pt#40085) just slip over the existing loudmouth pipes? or is there some modification needed? i read somewhere that the lm resonator is slightly over 3 inches to slide over the 3 inch pipe, but the borla muffler is exactly 3 inches and won't just slide right over? what would i have to do to make it fit without welding(my last option)

thanks,
Eric

if you buy the 3 inch one it should slip slightly in, or at least mine did. then my mechanic welded it. it fit pretty well, but bangs against the floor board which is annoying as hell. i would weld it personally.

alright cool man, thanks. i'm taking it to a shop either tommorrow or monday and see what they can do. only reason i didn't want it welded so soon was because i'm thinking it'll sound different and won't know if i'll want it permanent yet. but i've heard nothing but good from the switch so i'll think about welding it on already

yeah it is definitely quieter than lt's, no cats, and just the loudmouth. I have got nothing but compliments on the sound, so go ahead and do it, just give a lot of space between the muffler and the floor board, that sounds is driving me nuts.

any muffler i've ever seen has a pipe that will slip over the size pipe it is designed for.

3" inlet/outlet muffler means the inlet/oulets have a 3" inside diameter...so they will slip over a 3" pipe
