Header bolts...
Header bolts...
yeah so the guy that put the headers on my car a little over a year ago didnt tighten them down properly i guess, because two of them finally rattled out on my way home the other night. what size are the bolts and where can i get them? and do i change the gasket too?
Header bolts need to be retightened after several thermal cycles as the header gasket may compress. Your mechanic should have suggested that they be checked. If you have any ticking sound by the exhaust manifold were the bolts backed out, then I would replace the gasket(s). If you don't replace the gaskets, check that the rest of the bolts are tight. Remember, the bolts only get tightened to about 20 ft-lbs, they thread into aluminum heads.
