Long Tube Header Paint Question

When i do my head/cam combo i want to sandblast my LT's because they are a little rusty and flaking like a mother. My questions is what kind of paint could I use to paint them that would resist that kind of heat and abrasion from the occasional work/weather.

any paint you put on there is just going to burn off in a few months anyway

if you are going to go through all that trouble why not just have them re-coated

POR 15 has some header paint that does pretty well.

I used some 1,200 degree high heat paint from advance auto on my long tubes.

you need to find paint that will handle at least 1,000 degree temps. my headers after about 5 minutes get up to about 537* before the laser temp starts to max out.

try to find a local industrial oven/grill/stove shop. They sell some killer stuff that'll work

I've used VHT 1500* header paint. It burns off. IMO the rattle can coats are too thin.

I've heard good things about the POR15. But if you are going to have the headers already pulled off of the car, it just might not be a bad idea to have them professionally stripped and coated for a bit of an extra cost.
