LM1 Resonator Custom System Help
LM1 Resonator Custom System Help
Hey guys, I'm trying to save myself from buying the SLP LM1 catback for $400 by just buying the LM1 resonator and a muffler eliminator. However, I'd still like to try to make it "modular", so that if I get tired of it, I can unclamp it and switch to the LM2 myself. I doubt I'd get tired of it, I love it loud, just covering my bases.
Cost estimate: $111 for the SLP resonator and Muffler Eliminator, + $100 for the LM2 bullet = $211. Band clamps cost = unknown but are probably cheap. The last time I had a catback installed it cost me around $60 at my local muffler shop. Brings me to an estimated guess of about $120 in labor,
Estimated total cost = $231. Savings of over $200 versus just buying the catback and having it installed.
Can it be done?

Or you could wait and I'll sell you my LM1 cheap. However you might have to wait a til the end of march, when funds are available for to me to go to true duals. Kinda scraping by right now since I just had surgery couple weeks ago. Medical leave doesn't really pay the bills
Another route you could do is a 2.5 inch x-pipe kit ($150-$175) and go true duals...of course you'd have to dump before the rear axle with turndowns. I don't know if you'd like to go that route though.
You might try ebay, jegs, and summit too, you might find a cheaper + better bullet muffler if you search.

That sounds mighty tempting...But I want a LM so bad I can taste it, don't know how long I can wait....although, my B-day is March 27, hmmmmm....
.I love the LM1 and LM2 sound, And if I ever get tired of it, it's not a big deal for me to switch mufflers around, even if I get tired of the LM2.
Yes, I know it's a little raspy when you let off. I liek that. To give you an idea on how I like it, here's one of my favorite setups: http://lsx.streetfire.net/search/gmm...6700dd7583.htm
I think GMMG is too tame on a stock car, though.
And wouldn't true duals be a waste on stock manifolds? I won't be doing headers for quite some time and I can only go mid-length, not full (CA emissions).

I just finished putting on my loudmouth today on my 97 z28 and it sounds amazing you will not regret getting it. It has a nice loud deep idle and when you get on it it's loud and there wasn't any rasp on mine at all. Unless your getting headers soon you prob shouldn't waste 100 bucks on the lm2 muffler because you will love the sound of the lm1 on an lt1 and wont swap it out.
Sorry dude, couldn't wait - I just put in an order for the Loudmouth 1 resonator from LM performance. I won't be buying the muffler eliminator, though, I'll just have the exhaust shop rig one up. Man I can't wait!!
I don't think you'll have any problem selling it, though.

Yeah...It will get sold easy. You should have a definite tone since you have an automatic. It tends to drone more typically on manuals. I like it because you can barely here it in the higher gears, but 1st and 2nd it sounds pure evil, especially with LT's.
I overlooked the whole CA thing...oops
. I need to stop taking my pain meds before I post.
