shorty or mid header+no cat

I have mac headers with a magnaflow cat into 3 inch exhaust with a aerochamber muffler. Im going to be dropping the cat soon and was wondering what it would sound like.
Im only really worried about rasp and was wondering if i should put in a bullet or maybe a borla xr1. I want to make sure i dont loose any airflow but am worried about rasp and maybe noise.
Thoughts, experiences, any input.

If you are worried about rasp, I would leave the cat on. Seeing that it is a high flow converter, it is probably costing you little to no power loss, therefore, there is really no sense in hacking it off.

it was like $50 on ebay, i know its not the best and prolly hurting the airflow. Think about the inside of a cat, its like honeycomb.
If i would put in anything except a stright pipe it would be a stright threw muffler or something like the xr1 because i know that thing wouldnt be a restriction.
Im just looking for input from guys who already have done it and can speak from experience. Just worried about rasp mainly, i dont want it to be too loud either. The little old couple next door are nice as can be and I already feel like a dick with how loud the car is now. Trying to have some type of respect.

Are you referring to passing smog? Because the only cars that are exempt from smog is pre-1976. And yes, you will fail the sniffer with no cat.

50 bucks is about what one of those Magnaflow cats can go for and rest assured,it is a very good quality converter. If you are worried about rasp and added noise, then I would probably be hesitant in taking it off.

I dont need any questions why im doing it or any bs like that. Please speak if you have exp.

Thank you in advance

I have a magnaflow with no cat with the stock manifolds and my friend has pacesetter with no cat and a magnaflow. Both are fairly quiet until you really get on it and the one with longtubes without the cat sounds great.

I had the hooker aerochamber with BBK shorties and no cat still no rasp, under 3k RPM very tame. it was louder than my flowmaster and sounded better at WOT.A friend of mine has it with Pacetter LT quiet at idle , but as soon as he hits the throttle its menacing loud & no rasp.
