keep shorties. go duels and lose cats?
help!!!????......... I want to keep my edlbrk shorties.lose my cats and go duels or Y pipe to cut out and catback..does any one have pictures or info.. is this even worth the work??? i realy like my headers! good qlty. fit and coating. p.s. THIS is the BEST SITE ever.
shorties and true duAls (if you're not fighting someone it's duAls, sorry, just a pet peave of mine) is possible, but you won't get the gain you would if you had a longtube header. and running such a free flowing exhaust would be a waste with the edelbrock headers, as they only have 1-5/8" primaries and can't maximize the use of the better exhaust anyways.
i think the edelbrock shorties, unless you got the TES headers, bolt on to the stock Y pipe.
if you're still using the stock y pipe with cat, i would suggest getting the jegs off road y pipe for our cars, its not terribly expensive, and you can put a cutout in the straight section of the y pipe where it would meet to the catback.
hooker and magnaflow seem to be the budget catbck of choice for people with headers.
i have pacesetters and true duals with an H pipe, dual high flow cats, and moroso spiral flows dumped at the axle and i love the sound. so if you're going to be pursuing this from a sound standpoint, i would def. suggest duals, but it's going to cost a lot more and sacrifice ground clearance
hope this helps man, good luck with it

FWIW I gained 8-12 rwhp/rwtq by switching from a 3" cat back system
to a 2.5" true dual system. This is the factory dual cats with the 3"
cat back vs. dual magnaflow OBDII cats with the 2.5" true dual system.
It's expensive hp/tq, but the true dual system is better, not to mention
how much better it sounds.

This is with stock exhaust manifolds for both runs so it's a true comparison
with the only change being the exhaust system.
