Lightbulb Jethot y pipe and cutout vs true duals? ---

I was going to use 2.5" true duals until I kept hearing my side exit tip idea OR all the way out the back was going to CLANG or BOTTOM OUT.

How much power will I lose going hooker y - pipe, to cutout ,to free flowing cat ,to 3" catback? Let me know, if its only 10-15hp; no biggie....I like the sound of a cutout anyway .... and the tips out the back ---

Anyone have ANY personal advice on hp loss vs these two setups, or the pipe diameter of the hooker y - pipe? I need to make a purchase by tonight, THANKS ---

There won't be a huge power loss between a y-pipe setup and the true dual. Of course there is some power to be gained with a true dual setup, but if you have a pretty mild motor, it won't hurt you. As for the y-pipe, the Hooker y-pipe is 3" and you'll want a cutout that is a 3" diameter.

That helped me out a TON, thanks brotha ---

Edit: Actually how many cats will I need to run this y-pipe setup? I get confused on what needs 1 and what needs 2 cats. I think my setup now ( edelbrock shorties ) uses 1 cat. Thanks ---

Your car is a 96 correct? From the factory, your stock y-pipe came with two cats. Therefore, your header setup that you have now should have two cats. If you do only have one, then I am guessing you either have your PCM tuned or you have an 02 simulator(s) connected in the rear 02 sensor harness connector to avoid the SES light. The one cat setup was for the 93-95 cars. If you are going to use the Hooker long tubes and off-road y-pipe, it will not have any cats. I had to have a shop custom weld in a pair of cats into my off-road y-pipe.

You are right.... here is a pic of the setup I am running (pretty much) ... http://www.macperformance.com/store/..._ID=567&Page=2 (bottom pic). I didnt realize the second cat was under the other header!!!

I guess I will just have him custom weld in a pair of cats like you did (where did the cats go....I am just curious as how two cats got on a single pipe (the bottom of the y) , or did he put them from the two y tips?) , THANKS ---

In that case, then you will need some sort of PCM tuning or 02 simulators to prevent your SES light from coming on.

Sorry, thats the setup I am running NOW (before my rebuild).

I bought Jethot lts, hooker y pipe, 2 magnaflow cats, a single 3" cutout, and a 3" catback that I am going to be using when I get my engine rebuilt in the next month or so.

Do I need 2 , 12" 02 extenders now that I will be using the lts OR do I need 4of them? Thanks ---

You will only need a two 02 extensions for the front 02 harnesses.
