Installing Headers SUCK!!
Installing Headers SUCK!!
I didn't think that installing headers would be a big deal, but OMG! the actual header install wasn't too bad, but putting the bolts in was a PITA! i have RKSport Mids, and it is damn near impossible to tighten one of the bolts on the passenger side. I have stage 8 locking header bolts. Anyone else have this problem?
I can't attest for the mids but it was a bitch to start some of the bolts for my longtubes. I didn't have much problem once I actually got them started though. Try a combination of box end and open end wrenches. Also, ratcheting wrenches sometimes will work, but the bolt may be to close to the primary. You can also sometimes use a deep well socket and an extension to tighten some down. Not every tool works for every bolt though...I had to switch back and forth over and over.
My biggest problem during my install was getting that Mother F-ing dipstick tube both out and back into the block!

The rest of the install was not bad, just a little tedious.
Me and my brother did LTs on his 95 Cobra and we had 18 hours in them
Those were Mac headers and were just a b!tch, then 3 weeks later we did Bassani equal length shorties in a 95 GT and we had 4.5 hours in them.
I can deffinately say that LTs make alot more of an improvement over shorties though IMHO

It takes that long to get the alternator and starter off. There's no way somebody did a complete LT or any header install in a half hour. Not in a 4th gen, at least. I could probably do headers on my dad's 81 Monte Carlo in no time flat, but there's a TON more room under that hood than a 4th gen Camaro..

Then another 30 minutes to roll everything under the car and drop the body down over it. I can't imagine doing LTs on one of these cars with the motor still in
that would suck for sure
Getting the bolts started was the most tedious part for me as well. Next time, I'll just get the ARP stud kit and make it easy on myself. Getting the headers up in there was relatively easy with everything out of the way (per instructions).
