High flow Cat? With mid headers & Magnaflow

I am putting a set of mid Pacesetters on soon. I have the magnaflow exhaust. Summit has the high flow cat for 214.00. Is it worth the money to add this or just a waste of time. Does the exhaust need back pressure to run right or is less restrictions good? My car has 100k miles so is the cat a good idea to replace now since im dong this and would a factory replacement work better for me? I have pretty strict emissions here.

If you have emissions, I would defintely run a cat. I'm a firm believer in if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Since you already will have the exhaust apart anyhow, it probably wouldn't hurt to throw a fresh cat on there as well.

Just go to ebay and check them out. You can get MagnaFlo's for $65 shipped i think. Here is one i found. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Magna...90813367QQrdZ1
The part number most people use is the 94009

If your headers are true mids, then stock replacement cats wouldn't work. Just get some Magnaflow/Carsound cats w/out the AIR tube. You'll also need to get a Y to work with mids. Are you sure they're not shorties?

What would it take to just put straight pipe in there and when emission comes due put the cat back? Is there a bolt in that would easily go in and out?

You would have to rig up your y-pipe and your test pipe and cataytic converter so that they all have flanges. Then you can swap them back and forth with ease. To be honest though, a high-flow cat will cost you little to no power so it might just be easier to go that route.

You can get some 3" cats from www.Pypesexhaust.com for under $80 I believe. I put a Pypes cat on my driver's side and a basic Catco 3" cat on the passenger side. It worked well. Here's a picture of the dual 3" cats I added to my Pacesetter ORY.
