Headers questions please help!!
I am looking into getting a pair of long tubes on my lt1 camaro. Looking to get a pair of nice used ones but one looking i am not sure if i should go emissions or non emissions i dont have to worry about smog.
My question is with out smog issue is there any reason to have the emission style headers? Witch ones would be a better chose is there a difference having egr plugs and not when it comes to performance thanks please let me know.. As i am looking at purchasing pair of hooker headers now but they are non emissions....

The emissions systems you delete with non-emissions headers are AIR and EGR. AIR is only used at startup to help the cats heat up faster. After the first few minutes, the AIR pump shuts down and doesn't run again. There is not performance difference with or without the system.
EGR only operates at part throttle. Although its primary purpose is to reduce the emission of "oxides of nitrogen" (NOx), it also reduces the tendancy of the engine to detonate when you are lugging it at low RPM in the wrong gear. Most people don't drive like that, so EGR becomes a non-issue as well, since it doesn't operate at WOT.
Getting non-emissions headers, with no EGR or AIR connections eliminates the possibily of exhaust leaks at the plugged connections.
I'd comment on what you need to do to avoid an SES light and setting codes for the deleted systems, but you didn't mention the year of your car. That will determine whether you get codes, and how you eliminate them.
Why not add a "signature" with basic info about your car - year, model, engine, tranny and any major mods? That way, people can provide more accurate and more complete answers.

I am going to add my car in my signature but it is a 1996 Camaro Z28 6 speed
thanks for your help highly greatful!!
Since your 96 is OBD-II, you are going to have the various AIR and EGR codes "programmed out" of the PCM. Any of the good mail-order tuners should be able to help you out. Trifecta Performance is a Supporting Vendor on this site.
