HEader gaskets??

Hey guys,
Just about ready to install a set of tri-y`s headers and wonder I`m just going to use the stock OEM manifold gaskets for now, one side is flat and the other side is a little puffed out for lack of better words.. which side goes to the head ..The flat side has the part number on it??

Thanks alot...

I have used hookers, felpros, percy's, and copper.

The copper ones have performed the best.

Are stock steel header gaskets anygood... As I have a couple different brands and I match the gaskets to the heads and I had to trim the bolt hole sides on each side about 50/1000 and the tops about 100/1000 the bottoms were nice and flush with the exhaust ports on the heads allready...BUT when I took the same gasket and laid it on the tri-y`s header flange now the bolt hole and the tops were still good but Now I have to trim the bottoms of the gaskets to match the header ports on the headers about the same as the tops another 100/1000...

I laid an old steel gasket on the heads and they are allready good all the way around, and checked them also on the headers and they are perfect there as well... seems the aftermarket ones are too small and have to trim them.. HAve Mr. GAskets on order the copper ones with the raise sections around the ports and I don`t want to have to try and trim those.. so My question is , are the stock OEM manifold steel gaskets fit perfect just the way they are...?

Any thoughts on this???

Thanks Chris
