H pipe instead of the common X?

I have heard that to use a summit X pipe with pacesetters for true duals, it takes a fair amount of fabrication (hits floorpan). Then i got to thinking about summits universal H pipe, and that it looked like i might be able to make it fit better. Any thoughts?

i don't see why it would be much different. it all depends on how the collectors are situated and how you route the pipe off of each one. assuming the same size pipe...i doubt there is much less fab work with an Hpipe.

I think I am going to try the H pipe, just for the sake of doing it. I see everyone using the X, but no one ever uses the H. I think I'll give it a shot.

Its a matter of a couple of HP at most. You'll never feel the difference.

my buddy jeff has the flowmaster merge-kit on it, its more of an h-pipe than an x-pipe.

Also, h-pipes have a deeper tone IMO

is what I will be using

You do that kit, you might as well get an X-pipe. IMO, the bonus to an H set up is that you don't have to plumb both sides into the center, then back out. That kit still requires you to.

Like I said, X vs H is minimum just like mandrel vs. pressure bent. Its really just a matter of 5 hp at the most but mandrel is the big thing now days. Makes you wonder how fast cars could run with full pressure bent exhausts and H-pipes before everyone was mandrel crazy.

that kit I am using will allow me to have the sound of the h-pipe, and let me keep everything tucked up nicely

h pipes help below 2000 rpm and make a deeper sound

x pipes help across the board and make a more high pitched mustang cobra sound.

h pipe does nothing other than change the exhaust note. go x

My true duals are custom made, so we just added an h pipe close to the collectors to help balance things a bit.
