I plan on installing a cutout into my exhaust this weekend and I don't know which tool to use. I've used sawzalls b4 but the just rattle too much and I cant cut in a straight line. Do they make a 3" pipe cutter? Just trying to get some input on tool choice before I start hacking things apart. Thanks in advance

 

Bump C'mon guys I know you know that everyone knows to use diferent tools than a sawzalls any 1?

 

i didn't use a sawzall. i just used a lot of heat and some force. but when i took mine off, it wasn't going back on.

 

No I know how to take old stuff apart. Im going to install a cutout and I have to cut a section ut where it will go what tools do you guys to cut exhaust pipe while it's on the car.

 

Pretty much the only tool I used to hack apart the old exhaust was the sawzall. I at first used an air-powered cut-off wheel but the odd dimensions of the tool made it difficult to get into the confined areas and make an even cut through the entire pipe whereas the sawzall made a clean and even cut through the entire pipe.

 

I use a Sawzall all day long, so I could carve a pumpkin with one, but they can be jumpy for a novice. Most saws have an orbital or straight cut setting. Make sure it is on straight cut for metal.
