exhaust rattles

my car rattles at various times, sometimes while i'm even stopped, i think near where the cat is supposed to be, it bangs against the undercarriage...

is there any way to get it to stop?

acctually sometimes the insides of the cat break off, and that what causes your rattles... now you have to watch out because i let mine go for a couple months and the peice that broke off went to the back and got stuck in the tailpipe. you can take the converter off and gut it, then put it back on. or just ut a peice of pipe in there, or just replace it.

I have a 99 Firebird and I've had two sources of exhaust rattles: my cat has a shroud over it that rusted loose from one rivet and would shake and bounce off the pipe. I also have a few rings around the actual pipe that rusted loose and would rattle at random times. I just removed those.
