Exhaust metallurgy question

I am needing an easily removeable exhaust sytem and tried using the wide flat band clamps. They just won't hold butt connections together very well and my exhaust keeps coming apart. I am planning on using v-band clamps to fix this. My concern is that all of the clamps I have found are stainless steel. My exhaust is steel (maybe aluminized...(don't know)). When mixing stainless and steel/aluminized won't these connections promote rust formation (dissimilar metals)? Are there any other methods/ideas/thoughts to accomplish easy removal?

Yes, the steel will have galvanic corrosion because they are dissimilar metals. However, I don't think the life of the muffler will be significantly shortened because their alloys aren't that different.

You could try to paint your mufflers with high temperature paint if you are that worried about it.

It has been a long time since I took a chemistry class, so I might be wrong, but fasten some aluminum plates to the muffler, and the aluminum will act like the annode, not the steel. Now I'm a dork for saying that, and you would be one also if you took my advise.

it wouldn't significantly affect anything, especially if you dont drive on salted roads,

what will be a bigger factor is the clamps sealing moisture/salt onto the exhaust
