Cut out location?

I want to put a cutout in while the car is having a new cat put in. I can see 3 place it can go, right after the header, right after the cat or in the back closer to the muffler. What have you found to work the best? Any pros & cons?

Alot of people mount it in back before the rear axle. There are no clearance issues back there and there probably less chance of interior vibrations.

yup that's where mine is at, that looked to be the only place to actualy put it unless you take the cat out, and it still sounds mean as hell.

Too close to the O2 sensor will mess up your air/fuel ratio.

I think right behind the cat would be the easiest way to go and be far enough back for the O2's. The only question would be, i would need to move the cat forward 4 inches to fit. Is this ok or does it have to be exactly where it is?

Mine is right before the axle. Ground clearance, noise, heat and possible exhaust fumes are the main problems with putting near the cat.

I'm considering right after the Y-pipe, or before the pipe goes over the axle.
pro's-con's on both?
Car has no cats, LT's and OR-Y.
Seems like ground clearance will be an issue right after the Y-pipe.

IIRC, LT's hang a tad bit lower to the ground than mids or shorties. If you go over a speed bump, theres a good chance the cut out will scrape. I have a bolt on catalytic converter and it has a 1/2" flange around the pipe. i would occassionally scrape and it ended pulling part of my exhaust apart. so i had cut the bottom part of it off. When they are installed they have to point it at the ground a bit so as not to weaken wires.

The only pro's in having it after the y pipe is it will be noticeably louder(if you like it), easier access/less wire and a slight difference in power. cons are noise(unless you dont mind), exhaust fumes, clearance and heat.

If its installed before the axle, the pros are you dont have to worry about clearance, you wont notice the heat as much, no exhaust fumes andless noise. It will be a bit harder to take the cap off, becasue its stuffed back there a bit, if its a manual cut out. If you get an electric cut out you will have to run more wire.
