catted y pipe help!

ok heres the story, put some pacesetter long tubes on my car. what i was going to do since i have the slp loudmouth exhaust, is have a custom y pipe made with pypes 3 inch mini cats. well long story short, i just got off the phone with pypes and they are having proplems with my order, so i may not end up getting those.

now my question what would be some other cats to use? i know magniflow and catco are probally the 2 other most common. im looking mostly at size but secondly functionality too.
please send me in the right way please.
thanks in advance
mike

I would try to get the Pypes if possible, their small size makes it alot easier to snake a cat in on the drivers side where the fuel/brake lines and torque arm are in the way. If it doesn't pan out, I would take the Magnaflow cats over the Catcos.

Lets hope not, especially if I need a replacement down the road.

I've got 3" maganflows in my pacesetter ory. Its tight but doable. I rerouted the fuel and brake lines away from the heat. Ground clearance is not an issue as the driver collector is the lowest point. Heres some pics click on them to see larger.

,

Heres pics of my 96 when I had it with mini cats and the fuel line routing

ok bad news....got off the pypes hotline, and what they said, they are no longer going to carry the mini pypes and basically im going to start looking at other options. right now im trying out different speed shops that carry pypes, trying to see if they have any left over in stock. other wise i might be trying those ebay cats. just kinda frustraiting!

That is not good. Did they give a reason why?

my guess is they are having problems with them. A friend of mine running hooker LT's and a catted y-pipe had a pypes cat melt in under 1000 miles. I'm not sure exactly what the status is on it, I know they said they were going to replace it, but I'm guessing something in thier design just isn't working so theyre gonna bag it. I'd call them up and see what they say, they seem like a pretty honest company.

the story i got from the tech line was that the original company that was making them was no longer to be able to provide for them. and the replacement company that took over for them, "was unable to keep up with pypes demand of the product". so its unfortiuntate i ordered the pypes 6 weeks ago and find out yesterday, that it was kinda a waste. they said they would refund my money.

and so far no luck with the speed shops that carry pypes products. so im thinking probally trying my luck with those ebay cats. any opinions or any other ideas?
