If it truely a big exhaust leak, it will be very easy to find both by sound and puffing air. Just don't burn yourself in the process of locating it.

A piece of tubing acting as a stethascope works ok.

My point is that Deisel is as combustable and yet you won't put that in your engine but you will trans fluid?

I have no reason to put diesel in my engine, it doesnt really produce any beneficial effect, not really hamrfull (in small quantities) but not gonna hurt anything, 3-4 ounces of transmission fluid is going to do nothing to your cats and nothing to your o2 sensors, but it will produce a lot of smoke and tell you exactly where your leak is. Transmission fluid is very similar to oil, and a porsche boxster burns more than that in oil if you let it sit up for a week. The RX8 actually injects oil directly into the intake to lubricate the apex seals yet they make them with o2 sensors and catalytic converters.

If it's been leakin a while you should see black soot around the leak where it's blowing out the pipe. IMO it's the quickest and easiest way to check and you won't burn yourself or your buddies lol. I'd look first the try some of the other methods listed above.
