best exhaust for MPG
best exhaust for MPG
so I tried searching but couldn't find anything saying explicityl about the V6.. but search was acting up
anyways just did a valve job on a 97 V6 3.8 fbird with 145K.. hoping to keep it as a commuter and I want to get the best gas mailage possible as I drive way to much on the interstate... so want to get best flow through to help that; thinking about K&N FPI on the intake as I've heard good things but not sure what would be best to replace the stock exahust
any suggesitons please? and any ideas about how mush it would improve the MPG - what do you think that fbirds really got left in her ?200K
thanks for looking
Tim
p.s. not sure if this should have gone in the V6 room but I figured exhaust question should go here??

was looking at the edelbrock for the catback and they have a kit for about $250 and I've always trusted them... but it's only a sinlge out.
Flowmaster makes a kit for about $400 that is a dual out... I think the dual will probbaly improve the flow some but do you think its worth the extra price (don't really care about how it looks cause it's just a commuter )

I would also look into the Magnaflow, it has a decent sound, it is affordable, and it is all stainless steel so it will last you a long time. I used to have an Edelbrock catback, it had a very nice sound on the v8, not sure how it performs on the v6 though.
i gained a consisstent 1-1.5mpg after installing a magnaflow catback with cutout (in place of stock exhaust on an LT1)
not sure you'll really gain that much on a v6
i would just slap a bullet muffler on the stock setup and be done with it for $50
